Freelance project lead scenic since 2021, on events, studio productions and programmes for VRT
De MIA's, Eurosong, Zomerhit, Vlaanderen Feest, De Warmste Week, Lichtpuntjes tegen kanker, Ratpack at the Elisabethzaal, Dansathon, Homo Universalis and Those Were The Days. Arena shows, studio recordings and events on location, usually with an audience in the room and a broadcast at the same time.
Role
Project lead scenic. I run the scenic department and coordinate with the other departments through their leads: drawing office, graphics, joinery, construction, camera and vision, lighting and sound.
The result
The productions
Arena shows with audience and camera in the same room, studio recordings against green screen, and events on location where scenic, lighting and catering have to add up to one picture. What the room sees and what the viewer sees come out of the same build.
Responsibility
- Running the scenic department across overlapping productions and overnight changeovers
- Coordination with drawing office, graphics, joinery, construction, camera and vision, lighting and sound
- Supplier selection, material planning and decisions on the floor
- Project lead scenic on Homo Universalis
Behind the finish
From preparation to recording
Thousands of tealights are laid out and lit by hand.
Format on location in an industrial hall, with me as project lead scenic.
